Wait. What? Winter?

October was so lovely here in the Mat-Su Valley. We wondered where our snow might be. We remarked about our unseasonably warm weather. And then at the very last minute, winter snuck into October.

We love our snow. We do not love icy roads. We love our cold. We do not love our long, dark nights. But time passes quickly, and we are busy with the year-end activity and the coming holiday season.

This year, with gratitude for our many blessings, we are supporting the Alaska chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We believe in the power of reading skills, and we believe that putting books into children’s hands leads to a lifelong love of reading and learning. I was so lucky to get a great head start from my mother who taught me to read, and we want to give other children the same opportunity.

But what to get our fabulous patients for the holidays? We have decided to have a drawing for a great present: a pastel of your pet done by Patricia Halley. Patty trained as a nurse, enjoyed art, and eventually found her niche doing absolutely amazing pastel portraits of pets. We will have an entry jar in the office beginning the week of Thanksgiving, and we will accept entries until New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Eve we will draw a winner. You can check out her website: paintedpets.online. She has such a gift for capturing each animal’s personality. We are eager to share her talent with you.

The entire staff of Mat-Su Plastic Surgery wishes you a happy holiday season, and we hope that amidst the hustle and bustle of the season’s activities, that you find the peace and light of the season.
