As predicted, May ended with full greenery on all the trees. Not predicted, however, was the new snow in the mountains over Memorial Day weekend. I’ll let my friends from North Carolina think about that for a minute…snow on Memorial Day. Not kidding.
The sun is shining almost 24 hours per day at this point, and we anticipate the summer solstice with both excitement and dread. Excitement because who doesn’t like the longest day in the year? Dread because after the solstice we will start to lose a few minutes of daylight each day. Summer is a fabulous but very ephemeral season here in Alaska. We do not waste it.
Alaskans cram their summer full of s’mores, flight seeing, camping, fishing, hiking, biking, and all sorts of impromptu get-togethers. It is also the season of home improvement and planting. Soon enough will be the season for harvest and house cleaning. But in the summer? We accept the rule: Don’t clean your house when it is good weather. It might make a good bumper sticker.
Dagney and Ellie will turn 3 years old on July 4th. Go ahead and have a picnic. We’ll be celebrating,
too. I expect to have a pupcake party with their friend, Spencer, who celebrates a birthday on July 5th. As I’ve mentioned before: Yes, I am THAT dog owner. You know the type.
Mat-Su Plastic Surgery is hosting a Cool Night Out on July 18 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. It is a chance for you to come by the office and see the CoolSculpting machine. We have a very generous patient who has agreed to have a treatment on the evening of the open house so that you will be able to see the CoolSculpting machine in action. We won’t have s’mores, but we will have coupons for savings off the price of a CoolSculpting package. CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared method of permanent fat cell reduction by actually freezing the fat cells in a treated area. Cool! Literally.
Please come by and see us on July 18. We’d love to show you the CoolSculpting machine, and I might just show you some puppy birthday party pictures.
